It is such a surprised if you don't know what it means.
But, to the person that is familiar with this, we may just easily answer that it means: REVERSE !
Yes. This is correct. But, how do you spell it?
'go-stan', 'goes-stan', 'go-stunt', or 'goestan'?
Few weeks back while i'm having exam period, i was reading on 'The Sun' newspaper while i'm having my good breakfast. Flipping through the pages, i was caught by an attractive title : 'ONE STEP FORWARD, TWO STEPS BACK'. So, i began to read. It's a dialogue on current news that was written by Zainon Ahmad.
Surely, we must have have heard the lorry drivers shouting GOSTAN, or even ourselves shouting it in the car. But there is another word of GOHED that we might not came across.
When a lorry attendant, in the north especially, wants the driver to drive to forward, he says GOHED, a corruption English of go-ahead. And when he wants the driver to reverse, he shouts to the driver to GOSTAN which is to go astern.
Got it?? :D
Sometimes, we might know the word, understand the word, but we might don't even know how to spell it, or to search for the word exist in dictionary. Do note me if we have other words like this. hehe:P
